United Nations Environment Programme
Provision of advice to governments, agencies and the private sector on institutional development, technology capacity building, and the mobilization of financial and human resources,thereby positioning UNEP International Environmental Technology Centre (IETC) as a credible source of information on environmentally sound technologies. This culminated in the development and implementation of decision support tools for building technology management capacity in developing countries and countries with economies in transition.
Nuclear Waste Management Organization
Leadership role in the identification of information gaps, research needs and effective solutions relating to the long-term management of used nuclear fuel in Canada. This included active participation as a member of the Assessment Team that developed the concept of Adaptive Staged Management of Used Nuclear Fuel and its acceptance and approval by the Government of Canada.
Ontario Water Opportunities Act
Preparation of the strategy, background report and stakeholder dialogue for development of a provincial water hub in Ontario, leading to successful passage of the Water Opportunities and Conservation Act in Ontario, the creation of the Ontario Water Technology Acceleration Project(WaterTAP), and the Ontario Clean Water Agency Technology Showcase.
Canadian Water Sector Business Case
Preparation of a comprehensive Business Case on Investment Opportunities in Canada’s Water and Wastewater Sector for the Invest in Canada Bureau of Foreign Affairs and International Development Canada. This resulted in a heightened awareness of Canadian business capacity in this growing sector.
European Advance ETV Project
Key contributor to European Cooperation Initiative to establish the European Union Environmental Technology Verification Pilot Program, supporting efforts to encourage mutual recognition of performance testing and verification results across multiple jurisdictions. This resulted in the development of joint protocols with the US, Korea and Europe, as well as successful proposalsto collaborate on international verification projects, including the establishment of an international ETV standard and conformity assessment procedure.
GLOBE Performance Solutions
Spearheaded creation of a private company as the basis of a quality-assured platform for independent assessment and verification of technology performance. The company was awarded the sole licence to deliver the Canadian Environmental Technology Verification Program, using a pan-Canadian Consortium of testing organizations. GLOBE Performance Solutions is now recognized across Canada and internationally as a leader in technology performance measurement and verification.
